You would begin this career as a Carpenter Trainee. At Eby Construction our desire is to expose you to all aspects of the construction industry with emphasis on the carpenter trade. You will learn skills to advance your knowledge and abilities as a Carpenter Trainee leading to a fulfilling carpenter career. You will be required to learn how to work safe, following OSHA guidelines and company safety policies. Learning begins with working alongside experienced carpenters. The skills necessary to complete form carpentry, rough carpentry and finish carpentry tasks are varied and challenging. Some of the tasks you will be learning are: Building form-work for walls Setting forms for concrete slabs Forming sidewalks, curb and gutter and paving Framing metal stud walls Assembly and installation of rough framing Installing wood blocking Setting and aligning door frames, Installing doors and hardware and Installing trim and casing Hanging drywall Installing toilet partitions and assorted accessories Installing fiber reinforced panels Setting windows Laying wood decking Operating and maintaining tools and equipment required for the tasks, including: circular, table, jig and reciprocating saws, router, nail and power actuated guns, hammer drills and drills As a Carpenter Trainee you will experience physical demands and challenging working conditions such as: Standing and walking for long periods Climbing of stairs and ladders Bending, kneeling and twisting Lifting heavy loads on a frequent basis Working inside and outside in all weather and temperature conditions Dirty, dusty and occasionally muddy or slick conditions Vibrations from tools and moving objects Varying noise levels Working in cramped quarters and high places Following an interview and job offer, you must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen and provide I-9 documentation which will be processed through E-Verify. Some Eby clients require employee back-ground checks before allowing workers on their projects.
