Position Summary:This position is responsible for painting equipment, parts, machinery, interiors and exteriors of ships, and shipyard buildings at our vast, 63-acre facility. The successful candidate will also remove old paint to prepare surface prior to painting, and mix colors or oils to obtain desired color or consistency.

Detailed Description:Follows directions under intermittent supervision. Proficient at mixing and thinning all types of coatings as directed. Proficient at running blast pot and paint pumps. Proficient at pressure washing. Ability to spray conventional and airless spray guns. Set-up blast pot, paint pumps, and all hoses and lines. Clean and maintain all equipment as required. Troubleshoot problems with all equipment as it arises. Proper storage of equipment and pumps. May be assigned miscellaneous tasks outside craft as required. Clean tanks and machinery spaces to gas-free specifications. Attendance is an essential function of the job. Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront. Abide by safety and sanitation regulations. Maintain a commitment to and promote the Quality Policy. Abide by all organizational policies and procedures.
Physical Job Demands:
Multiple times a day carry a 40lb bucket of tools and supplies to and from job site, including but not limited to, walking, and climbing stairs / ladders.
Occasionally pull tarps across boat decks and clip them to wire by lifting 50lb from the floor to 72" and then pulling with a 50lb force 100'.
Occasionally pull hoses by lifting and carrying 15lbs from the floor 100', including up and down stairs.
Occasionally pressure wash by lifting a 5lb pressure washing gun and standing, reaching and bending from low levels as well as elevated.
Occasionally sand blast by lifting a 12lbs blasting gun with 120lbs of pressure force in a standing, reaching and bending position from low levels, elevated, and climbing a ladder / stairs.
Paint by lifting a variety of painting devices weighing up to 5lbs from various positions including, but not limited to, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, etc. at low levels, elevated, and climbing ladders / stairs.
At least one time a day connect hoses to blaster Meiser by pushing with 15lbs of force into a connecter by squatting and reaching.
Occasionally utilize a grinder / sander by lifting and carrying up to 12lbs from the floor, walking 50' utilizing in standing, sitting, kneeling or overhead positions and returning.
At least one time a day utilize a broom and shovel to remove sand from dry dock by pushing, lifting and carrying 20lbs of force.
At least one time a day fill portable blasting sand tanks by lifting 30lbs from 5" and carrying 30' and pouring into hopper at 45".
At least one time a day carry a 5 gallon pail of paint about 25' which can weigh up to 55lbs.
At least one time a day set and place warning lights by lifting and carrying 33lbs from the floor 100' to set back on the floor.
