POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Sr. Manager, Equipment Engineering will be responsible for determining and developing the food/nutraceutical process and packaging systems engineering strategies for the Herbalife Innovative Manufacturing (HIM) plants as well as other related aspects of the Herbalife plant/industrial engineering technologies. This role will interact with multiple departments on the development of the food process introduction and processing strategies, packaging components, equipment, systems engineering and integration, raw materials selection, manufacturing, and marketing, testing, licensing and quality control phases as well as act as technical spokesperson and give presentations to senior management as well as external organizations. The individual selected for this role needs to be a dynamic and creative technical leader equally comfortable with food processing systems and packaging equipment/systems conceptualization and implementation along with hands on development in the design, construction and operation in a food/nutraceutical manufacturing environment.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:Maintain/enhance “Best in Class/World Class” performance through implementation of key initiatives and strategies. Explore, identify, and develop process and product materials, equipment, processes and technologies for inclusion in Herbalife food/nutraceutical processing and packaging components/systems that demonstrate a clear advantage compared to competition. Manage Engineering team at Lake Forest. Develop career path and annual MBO’s for team. Oversee and provide input on projects manage by other team members. Manage Capital Expenditures for Lake Forest. Includes planning, scheduling, assigning, forecasting and cost estimating. Project manage projects from budgeting, specification/design, scheduling, testing, and implementation. Coordinate new projects and sample submissions for evaluation. Develop and manage the technical plan for the Processing/Packaging Portfolio. Collaborate in the development and conduct training of processing/packaging personnel to skillfully operate the installed systems. Develop and conduct process, component and equipment validation and qualification testing to ensure proper performance to specifications. Interact with R/D and testing labs to hypothesize, test, analyze data and evaluate results. Interact with multiple departments including Management/Project Teams, Manufacturing, Marketing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Global Licensing, Global Sourcing, Purchasing, Inventory Control and Product Development regarding all the Process/Packaging activities related to projects. Collaborate in the development of process, product and production improvement programs including enhanced quality initiatives and facility efficiency practices. Develop maintenance systems and continuous improvement programs required to support and enhance the installed processing/packaging systems. Capture and institute engineering standards based on learnings from previous projects for use in future Herbalife Engineering/Manufacturing projects. Perform additional duties as assigned. Machine design/systems integration Cost tracking and control: engineering economics Organizational/Motivational leadership skills coupled with strong technical and analytical ability Strong technical skills with the ability to understand formulations/process/procedures Ability to troubleshoot and optimize Production/Process/Equipment Sound judgment with effective technical/operational and business focus Strong Project management skill set. Must be able to manage multiple and competing tasks. Construction management skills. Ability to work many disciplines and departments to achieve project goals. Food processing automation Control system design, computer programming, PLC programming and troubleshooting System change control, qualification, validation 8-10 years’ experience in Processing, Packaging, and Package Machinery design/automation and operation. 5 years of experience with relevant manufacturing/engineering/technical management. 3 years’ experience in successful capital management in the food and/or nutraceutical industry. 3 years’ experience in Food/Dietary/Nutritional/Pharmaceutical or kindred product industries 3 years’ experience in cGMP or other regulatory environments 3-5 years’ experience as an OEM Bachelor’s Degree in Food, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering. Graduate Degree in Engineering. Six Sigma Certifications, Project Management Professional (PMP), other engineering/project related certifications.
